WM and LPL affect every part of life, yet inequality in care means too many are missing out on the specialist support they need.
That’s why we are creating the WMUK Support Centre.
We’re bringing free, expert, tailored care to one online space—so those with WM and LPL can live longer, healthier lives and advocate for themselves.
The Big Give is giving us a head start by including WMUK in its Christmas Challenge.
If we, as a community, can raise £30,000 between 2-9 December via the Big Give campaign website, the Big Give will double it to £60,000.
The support of a health team is critical when you consider that two thirds of people with WM experience the impact of related conditions, such as hyperviscosity syndrome or cold agglutin disease, which require additional support.
Patients are often left to navigate alone, adding strain to their physical and mental health as they constantly self-advocate.
It will come as no surprise that our Big WM Survey revealed many patients noticed a deterioration in mental health since diagnosis.
These are all issues which can be addressed with the right team of support.
– Andree Bailey, WM Patient
Through the WMUK Support Centre, we want to develop an online hub where anyone living with WM or LPL can directly access free, personalised, joined-up support from the range of specialists.
These are experts who can provide the guidance and input relating to everything from diet and lifestyle to accessing physiotherapy, protecting yourself from infections, and mental health.
We know that with the right support, many people with WM and LPL live well and respond positively to treatment.
Help patients advocate for their care
The Support Centre gives you the tools and confidence to have better conversations with your doctors and nurses. It’s about making sure your emotional and everyday needs are heard, not just your medical ones—helping you feel more in control and less anxious.
