WMUK has joined the Blood Cancers Alliance to fight for better treatment for our patients.
The Alliance's first action is to write to Health Secretary Jeremy Hunt about the removal of 12 blood cancer drugs from the Cancer Drugs Fund in the latest round of cuts.  Although these drugs do not directly affect WM  treatment, (previous cuts did) the principle of fairness of treatment for (rarer) blood cancer patients is vital.  A shortened version of the open letter was published in the Times on 4th November- the date of the drugs withdrawal.
Many patients feel treatment options for them in this relapsing disease are being squeezed between the austerity driven agenda at the Cancer Drugs fund and the lack of approval for new treatments by NICE and the Cancer Drugs Fund for WM.
