Today, the government released new details outlining the next phase of its 10-Year Health Plan. These updates build on the wide-ranging country-wide consultation that took place last year and highlight key priorities for transforming NHS care.
What’s changing?
The strategy outlines three major shifts in the way care will be delivered:
- Hospital to community
- Analogue to Digital
- Sickness to Prevention
WMUK welcomes the recognition that strategic change within the NHS is essential to improving equitable access to early diagnosis, integrated care, and effective treatment – particularly for people living with rare conditions like Waldenstrom’s macroglobulinaemia (WM).
What does this mean for the WM community?
While there’s still a great deal of detail to unpack, we are reviewing the plan closely and will share our full analysis in the coming days. In the meantime, you can access the government’s full plan and summary here.
This announcement follows last week’s update on government proposals to accelerate clinical research and create Neighbourhood Health Servicesacross the country. We’re monitoring this closely given its potential impact on WM treatment development.
